A simple, cheesy snack with buttery za’atar flavor in every bite. This pull-apart toast is easy to make and perfect for serving as a quick appetizer, snack, or side.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 slices white bread, crusts removed
- 1–2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1–2 teaspoons Terranean Herbs & Spices Lebanese za’atar, plus more for topping
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced, to your preference
INSTRUCTIONS
-
Preheat oven to 375°F.
-
Remove the crust from each slice of bread.
-
Using a knife, lightly score each slice into a tic-tac-toe grid, creating grooves without cutting all the way through.
-
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and za’atar.
-
Brush the grooved side of both bread slices generously with the za’atar butter. Sprinkle additional za’atar over the top for extra flavor.
-
Place mozzarella cheese on the un-grooved side of one slice of bread.
-
Top with the second slice, keeping the grooved side facing up.
-
Bake for 5–6 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden and crisp.
-
Gently pull the sandwich apart along the grooves to create cheesy bite-sized squares. Serve hot and enjoy!
